Ship Design – Wärtsilä has introduced a new ship design that will reduce current fuel consumption, and will be powered by the new Wärtsilä 31 engines currently listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the most fuel-efficient four-stroke moors. Wärtsila’s hybrid battery technology is included in the design, which also has significant energy savings. “Our new design incorporates the latest technologies and has been developed to provide the fishing industry with lower fuel consumption and more opportunities to develop profitable operations,” said Riku-Pekka Hägg, Vice President of Ship Design at Wärtsilä Marine Solutions.
